 GUEST SPEAKERS

MARIE GHESQUIRE - French pastry chefs Marie and her husband opened their first store in France in 1988. Their sweet creations captured the attention of the culinary world winning many awards in France.

In 2003, they immigrated to Canada and spent 14 years pleasing the palates of thousands of Calgarians and can be found at the south Calgary Farmer’s Market with their booth called: She Bakes Bouquets.

In the past couple of years, they have turned their passion into helping people move to Paraguay. Marie, husband and son will help you with everything you need to know about moving there, down to the finest detail.

CATHY JACOBS - Our ferocious city hall fighter. Cathy was the owner of Angel’s Café, a very popular restaurant in Edworthy Park that many Calgarians have eaten at, jammed with, danced around and generally had a wonderful time being part of the contagious atmosphere she created along with her hard working staff.

The city (shame on them) finally forced her out and off the land to the sadness of many Calgarians who loved stopping by for a quick meal or a friendly night.

She found a new place located just outside the Crossfield area working within the Irvine Tack & Western Wear company store. Nice new place about 20 minutes up Deerfoot from the north end of the city. Please be sure to come for a meal and wander around the building – it’s huge! See you there!

 KEYNOTE SPEAKER

SAHBRA ANNA MARKUS - One of the youngest survivors of the Warsaw ghetto, author Sahbra Anna Markus lived a life only those who have survived Hitler's hell can imagine. In her book “Only a Bad Dream” she narrates the drama of her early years through her most vivid and never forgotten memories.

She tells of traipsing through forests at night, fleeing certain death, of her parents hiding her in a church, desperate to save her life. A story of the triumph of the human spirit, this memoir provides strong insight into the courage, strength, and dignity possessed by those who endured the Holocaust.
