KELLY WORTHINGTON - , a farm-to-table operation located near Didsbury, Alberta.
Kelly was nominated for Women in Ag award in 2026 with her most significant contribution to agriculture being her role as a pioneer of heritage pasture pork production in Alberta and her leadership in establishing a sustainable, small-scale farming model that has revitalized the Kunekune breed across Western Canada.
Together with her husband and co-owner of Whispering Wind Farms, Jon Lendvoy, she specializes in raising rare Kunekune pasture pork and grass-fed Galloway beef. The farm is recognized as the first Kunekune breeder in Alberta. Kelly’s impact at Whispering Wind Farms centers on pioneering sustainable, pasture-based livestock production in Alberta and advocating for the viability of rare Kunekune Pigs. Kelly and Jon established the first Kunekune farm in Alberta with their focus exclusively on Kunekune pasture pork genetics.
Since starting in 2015, they have grown their operation into the second-largest Kunekune breeder in Canada. In 2018, they became the first official Kunekune pork supplier in the province. Kelly manages a "farrow-to-finish" operation of over 175 head, emphasizing natural maternal instincts and maintaining high breed standards. She has been vocal about the lack of resources for small-lot pork producers in Canada. She has worked to bridge this gap by sharing her expertise on safely raising pigs in non-industrial systems, ensuring small-scale farmers understand critical biosecurity and registration requirements.
Kelly also serves on the Board of Directors for the International Kunekune Hog Registry, the original breed registry.
Kelly Worthington and Whispering Wind Farms have been featured in several agricultural and livestock-focused magazines and trade publications, primarily highlighting her expertise in heritage Kunekune pork and biosecurity, including Small Farm Canada, Better Pork and Prairie Hog Country.
